Nick and I went out on the town last night!! We headed into Wolfville to take in some of the Deep Roots Festival. This is a Jazz and Blues type festival that has become a huge sucess in Wolfville. Last night at Paddy's the Hupman Brothers played and they rocked the Pub!! They were awesome.......wow I love music!! It was a great night and some people may have induldged a bit in Paddy's famous micro brew beer a bit too much......NICK.
He paid for it today in the form of a large hangover...he couldn't even finish nine holes of golf.....and got NO sympathy from me!! hahaha
For some reason.....Paddy's beer and music seem to be a bad combination for Nick.
I knew we were headed for trouble when Nick ordered the first Tower of beer at Paddy's....it's a big tube of beer with it's own Tap......it's equilivant to about two pitchers.

The blog entry about NOTHING!!
Well hmmm this week I am sure I can find something to blog about....??? Maybe.
Well....life is pretty slow paced right now with me being back to subbing. Somedays i love the fact that I am subbing and get days off in the middle of the week...and other days I feel like I might gouge my eyes out from boredom. So far this week I have been busy. I made salsa...which turned out really crappy...I sure screwed it up some how!! Although I haven't figured out how yet! I also baked a massive batch of cookies. I am booked tomorrow for subbing and I was booked today. I subbed in grade five...and I am beginning to come to the conculsion that I love the older grades......primaries are cute and sweet....but grade fives are independent...and I LOVE IT!!
hmmmm well that pretty much sums up my life right now.....I am becoming a domestic diva with all this cooking and such...but other then that I wear my PJs until noon when not subbing.....oh and my furry slippers!! Somedays it's exciting....and somedays it's depressing to still have the furry pink slippers on at noon!! hahah depends on the day! : ) Stay tuned......if I don't get a job soon I might start wearing my PJ's until 5 ...then I might need an intervention!!

Kathleen Edwards in Halifax......simply amazing.....
Nick and I are so obsessed with music it's ridiculous really. We have mountains of CD's and are always buying each other more at any occasion or oppertunity. We are huge fans of the Tragically Hip and have seen them in concert more times then I can count. We have gone to Toronto for the Sars concert and Moncton to see the Stones to name a few. We are like kids right before a big concert. But I have noticed as we have aged the last few years....it's harder and harder for us to get ourselves going before a concert now. Especially one right in the middle of the work week. Or even worse one at the beginning of the work week. But last night Nick and I shuffled, no dragged ourselves to Halifax to see Kathleen Edwards. We saw her first at the Sars Concert in 2003 and loved her. We listen to her CD the whole way to TO. We love her folky, indie country feel.
Well on the way to Halifax last night, we were yawning, rubbing our eyes....we looked like grandmas up passed our bedtime. I said to him, what has happened to us....are we now an old married couple?? I said we used to be able to do this party, go to concerts and then get up in the morning and go to work. He said I know......we must be getting old.
I wasn't feeling well had a headache...and was nursing a cold....but we pushed on.
The Kathleen Edwards concert was at the Seahorse Tavern On Argyle in Hali....and I had heard about the Seahorse before ( all bad stuff) .....but it was not a bad place...it was in the basement of the Economy Shoe shop and was pretty cool place. It felt like an old Halifax Bar that had been there since the beginning....it was in the bowels of Halifax sort of speak. But it was cool.
At about 8:30 we saw Kathleen Edwards just sort of walk into the bar....Nick was like...holy crap she's just walking around....she was in the bathroom at the same time as me.....but I couldn't speak to her...I thought the bathroom was kind of an ackward place to talk...Nick was so mad at me...he said i should have struck up a conversation...I however thought it was the wrong place for that. He said I missed my oppertunity. Then I started to think....shit I did...
But anyway arounf 9pm she came on and started singing...and wow....she was amazing...she played accoustic guitar, electric guitar, violin and harmonica....and she sang. She was incredible, the talent she has just blows me away. She played songs on her debut albulm "failure" and then songs off her new albulm "asking for flowers" it was amazing.
Well at the end of the concert she said she would be hanging around for a while after and that people could feel free to come up and chat with her. Well I said to myself....self....you will get an autograph. So I went over and purchased her very cool artist made poster....and waited.
It was hilarious...everone was waiting out front for her...but she sort of came out via the stage...and just practically ran into me. So I introduced myself and asked if she would mind signing my poster and she said she would love to.
She was so nice and down to earth. I love when musicians you really admire are everything in person that you precieve them to be!! It was awesome!!
Nick and I were stoked the whole way home! wow check out her website....she's going to be super famous someday....even more so then she is now.

Weddings, Reunions summer 2008.....was a wild one.....

I have been a bad blogger....
But to be honest I have been insanely busy. So busy in fact that my house hardly got cleaned once over the summer.
May and June went by in a flash with report cards, packing up my classroom and moving it home...AGAIN....
Then off I went to Ste Annes for the 4th and I feel final summer. More on that later. Also in July, I had my ten year high school reunion, 2 weddings, a stagette for my friend Angela phewwwww it was a crazy one.
I returned home frome Ste Anne August 9th and got married two weeks later.
As I sit at my computer I wonder how i survived it all, really it was a crazy, busy, messed up summer....
I don't have a job for this school year and I am hoping something comes up during the year, but at this moment it's probably best I don't have one as I am mentally, emotionally and physically exhausted. I feel I could probably sleep for days!
Our wedding August 23rd was everything we had dreamed, wanted and wished for...it was just under 100 people.
We had our wedding at the Acadia Chapel. It was a fabulous service Nick's sister Nakita sang " Waste" by Phish which is a song I love. She and Fisher, Laura and Erin sang Lost in this moment by big and rich as well. It was great!
Our dog Cosmo was our ring bearer and Nick's cousin Kelsey was our flower girl. I had my best girl friends as my bridesmaids and Nick had his high school buddies as groomsmen..it was perfect. The reception went off without a hitch which is always a challenge when you have a tent wedding.
The band we had was wicked. They are called Hawco and we hired them after seeing them play at a Pub in Halifax.....I was stressed after hiring them because of their price.....but on the wedding night i realized that they totally made our wedding awesome....we partied until the wee hours of the morning....and it was amazing. Everythign about the day was perfect, from the tractor arch entering the tent, to my dress, to the band....it was great. I will write more on that soon !!
On a side note....we are very pleased to announce that Nick's Dad is in Full remission. His cancer is not detectable after having several scans. He will be carefully monitored and checked regularly but we feel a sense of relief for the time being!! He is essentially back to his old self...he doesn't have exactly the same energy that he once did......but that will come in time!!
We have a lot to be thankful for, 2008 started rocky.......but I think it's going to end on a good note!!
that's all for now...but I promise to be a better blogger now that life has slowed down a bit!
